Care for the Family is a national charity which aims to promote strong family life and to help those hurting because of family breakdown. We do this through events, resources, training and networks of befrienders.

“Your course was invaluable. I’d like to repeat it for all our new parents.”

We support parents and young people and train those who work with parents. We have worked in partnership with many agencies within Birmingham in a wide range of innovative projects. We help parents to build better family lives and improve the outcomes for their children and young people.
Our range of courses for parents is nationally recognised and well-respected and is based on over 30 years’ experience of working with parents. They give parents a safe place to explore issues in their parenting and help build strong relationships, leading to better family life and improving outcomes for children and young people.
We have worked in partnership with Birmingham’s Health Education Services and Family Action. Our early intervention service with Family Action supported both children and their mums and dads, working in a number of primary schools and a Children’s Centre. We run weekly parenting groups and have worked with BEST and BIP teams to develop better self-esteem and behaviour strategies.
We are currently working in a Pupil Referral Unit with young parents, delivering Time Out for Parents Courses.
We run accredited training programmes for those who work with parents, including multi agency teams, social workers, PRU staff, outreach workers, Children’s Centre staff, nursery staff, health visitors and school staff. We have also developed sessions for foster parents and residential care workers.
Contact us to discuss how we can work with you to support your work with parents.
