“Your course was invaluable. I’d like to repeat it for all our new parents.”

The four-day course covers the latest theory and research on child development and parenting and includes a brief overview of Positive Parenting courses. It is based on the National Occupational Standards for Work with Parents developed by the DfES (now DCSF) and approved by the UK regulatory bodies (QCA, SQA, ACCAC and QCA NI), focusing particularly on NOS 306 (Enabling parents to reflect on the influences on parenting and the parent-child relationship) and NOS 319 (Working with groups of parents). Participants have an opportunity to reflect and build on their practice and to co-facilitate a short parenting session to a small group.
The learning objectives for the training are to:
The course also covers the underpinning theory, approach and strategies contained in Time Out for Parents, Time Out for Juniors and Time Out for Teenagers. Accreditation is available for this course through the Open College Network (OCN). The two units (nine credits) are assessed at QCF Level 3 through a portfolio of evidence. Accreditation is an optional extra for which there is an additional fee of £95 per candidate
The four-day facilitator training course is charged on a full cost recovery but not-for-profit basis at £495. However, grant funding now enables us to offer the course at subsidised rates for the voluntary sector.
We also have, with thanks to grant funding a restricted number of places available at each training event for churches at £295. This subsidised rate applies only to those planning to run parenting courses as part of a Christian outreach programme. Volunteers from other faith groups qualify for the voluntary sector rate.
This includes lunch each day, refreshments, delegate notes, and a copy of one of the core 'Time Out' series of parents' handbooks. Accommodation is not included and you will need to purchase a Facilitator manual if you wish to run a 'Time Out...' course.
Affordable one-day workshops give an introduction to our parenting courses, their approach, style and content. They also signpost relevant training and best practice issues.
Buffet lunch and a delegate pack are included.
